As a college student, Brian Taylor loved his nightly popcorn fix, but wanted to explore different flavors. Because potato chips came in different ones, he thought, why not popcorn?
About the business:
Taylor bought powders and spices and created new flavors to spice up his popcorn. Then he invested $7,000 in savings to turn the spices into a commercially viable product. By 2003, revenues were $2 million. Today, Kernel Seasons sells its 16 flavors in 30,000 stores across the country.
