Clynk

Founded: 2006
Clynk
What they do: Clynk’s recycle drop-off centers have automated the process of collecting containers and making refunds.
Inspiration: Only a fraction of people take the time to recycle because the process is so clunky. Frank Whittier felt there had to be a simpler way to do it.
About the business: Clynk provides bags to fill with empty bottles and cans. At a Clynk drop off center, a machine reads your bag's ID number, scans and counts your recyclable goods, and electronically deposits a refund into your Clynk account -- an account you can access anytime. In less than a year, revenues exceeded $1 million.
Axiom(s) exemplified: Apply new technology to an existing process.
